Week Six. The Capital FM Arena. It may be in the National Ice Centre, but you won’t need to wrap up warm for the Betway Premier League Darts. There’s so much red-hot, intense action to look forward to that you’ll probably come out with a tan!

With eight years of league experience, there’s only one place you’ll want to be when the arrers start flying, and that’s Nottingham. And there’ll only be one game on everyone’s lips – Michael van Gerwen vs. Phil Taylor. The top two players in the world, it is always momentous when these two clash, don’t expect any different here.

Plus, they were homecoming heroes when they traveled to Liverpool earlier this season, but this week St. Helens pair Stephen Bunting and Dave Chisnall will be rivals as they try to get more points on the board in the league. With Chizzy storming ahead in the league, who will be the pride of Merseyside after this week?

Week 6 of the 2014 Premier League will be primarily remembered as the week that Phil Taylor looked like himself again, which would become a dangerous reminder for the rest of the competition as the weeks went on. Playing last on the night, Taylor thumped in a 122 finish for a 12-darter to take an early 3-1 lead. But Chisnall came roaring back with a 14-darter to level the game. They were neck and neck before the crucial moment. Chizzy had a dart for the bull to draw the game at 6-6. In past weeks it would have gone in, but Phil’s luck had changed. He missed, and Taylor hit double sixteen to claim both points. The curse was seemingly broken. Just in time as well, as he needed to move up the table before Judgement Night arrived.

Elsewhere, Peter Wright stayed unbeaten with a stylish 7-4 win over rock-bottom Simon Whitlock. He started like a steam train, racing to 4-0 and never looked like being caught despite a 126 checkout from the struggling Aussie.

Plus, then defending champ Michael van Gerwen utterly demolished Wes Newton 7-1, hitting six 180’s in the process, while fellow Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld grabbed a draw late on for the second week in a row. Finally, 2011 champion Gary Anderson lost out 7-5 to Adrian Lewis.
